Yampa River State Park

Yampa River State Park is located near the Utah/Colorado at Hayden, Colorado. There are several places to enter this park along a 134 mile path of the river. This is one of the prettiest Colorado state parks.

Some of the best fishing in Colorado is done here. Brown and Rainbow Trout, Small Mouth Bass, and Northern Pike are favorites in this river. Of course, boating is also allowed on the river. Canoeing, rafting, and kayaking are popular. Whitewater rafting is a lot of fun.

This gorgeous park is open for camping. It has 50 camp sites and 35 of them have electric hookups so bring the camper and know that you can feel like you are at home in the evenings, while spending the days out in nature.

If you are not into fishing, maybe you enjoy birding. Ornithologists love watching birds here. American Bald Eagles live here along with Blue Heron, Sandhill Cranes, and many other birds.

Antelope, deer, and elk are abundant if you want to photograph nature. Hunting is also allowed during hunting season with the proper license.

There are plenty of hiking trails. Picnicking here is fun for the whole family. Volleyball is popular with visitors.

Yampa River State Park is gorgeous all year long. There is so much to do in the snow and in the sun. Bring your camera, hat, comfortable walking shoes, and sunscreen and have a blast.

For more information, you can call the park at 970-276-2061. The office is located at 6185 W. US Hwy. 40 in Hayden, Colorado. There is a visitor center here with exhibits. There is also a gift store with books, t-shirts, and other souvenir items.
