Celebrate Easter Sunday early in the morning by attending one of the Colorado Springs Easter Sunrise services. What better way to celebrate this than to go to an early morning service and watch the sun come up. I have been to many sunrise services throughout the years and they are a wonderful way to begin the day.
Thousands of worshippers used to go to Garden of the Gods for Easter services. Since the early 1920's, Easter sunrise services have been held there but since 2003, formal services are no longer held. That has not stopped worshippers from going to Garden of the Gods for the services since then and thousands will arrive in 2009 on Easter morning to hold a service. Many local church groups meet there and hold services. For Easter of 2009, the sun will rise at 6:40am so plan to meet there accordingly.
A planned service will be held at Acacia Park at 6:00am on April 12, 2009. Acacia Park is located at Platte Avenue and Tejon Street. Watch the sun rise while you celebrate Jesus arising from the grave, proving once and for all that he is the Son of God and has power over sin and death. This is a beautiful spot to celebrate Jesus.
Another planned service will be held at Royal Gorge. The service for April 12, 2009 will be from 6:30 a.m. to 7:30 a.m. on the South Rim of the Scenic Royal Gorge. Can you think of a more perfect spot to worship our risen Lord?
The Executive Director of Loaves and Fishes, Don Farr, a non-profit organization sponsored by the Canon City Ministerial Alliance will speak. Worship music will be provided by Larry Kettle, from the Bridge to Life Church of Canon City.
If I can find some information on more Colorado Springs Easter Sunrise services, I will post them on here. Most churches have Easter services at the regular time if you are not a very early morning person.
Happy Easter! He is risen! He is risen indeed! Hallelujah!
