Dinosaur National Monument

Dinosaur National Monument is an incredible national park in Dinosaur, Colorado. The Canyon Area Visitor Center is located at
4545 Highway 40 in the town of Dinosaur. Dinosaur is close to the Colorado/Utah border and part of the park is located in Utah.

There are no dinosaur fossils in the Colorado portion of the park. Dinosaur fossils can be seen only in the Utah portion of the park, but, to the dismay of everyone, the Dinosaur Quarry Visitor Center is closed indefinitely due to some safety issues!

The foundation of this visitor center is shifting and the building is coming apart.

Now, there are still some fossils that can be seen if you take a short hike from the visitor's center. There are also a few fossils set up at the Temporary Visitor Center, near the Dinosaur Quarry Visitor Center.

The Canyon Area Visitor Center is located in Colorado. There are beautiful canyons in this portion of the park, but, again, no dinosaur fossils.

While you are there, you can paddle through a river canyon, where dinosaurs once roamed. You can go river rafting. You can hike trails through the park.

Entrance fees are collected on the Utah side of the park. The park is open from 8:30am to 4:30 pm everyday except Christmas, December 26, New Year's Day, and Thanksgiving on the Utah side. The Colorado side is closed during the fall and winter from October 27 on until Memorial Day.
